About Saracen Cockers |
Bob and I have had and bred field dogs for over 30 years. We are passionate about hunting and competing with our dogs in field tests. The foundation of our breeding program is our lovely FC Elan Rosie MH from the famed Elan Cocker line in the UK. The breedings we have done have been to dogs out of Field Champion lines, to direct imports to the British lines or dogs from the British lines. Our dogs are wonderful sweet little guys – the "merry cocker" around the house or in the field. They are biddable, eager to learn, natural bird finders and the "pocket rocket" in the field. Bob and I started with the rare Irish Water Spaniel over 30 years ago, breeding for temperament, field ability. We imported Rosie in 2002. She has been everything one could ask for in a family companion, hunting companion, trial and hunt test competitor. She has been a wonderful girl – excelling in the field, hunting and as a mother. She has passed on her wonderful traits to her offspring. Our breeding program will continue pass on the rich heritage given to us in Rosie. Bob and I are hunters, amateur field trial/hunt test handlers and AKC licensed hunt test judges. We both have been active for years in obedience teaching/training and competition, tracking events and the field tests. Bob has trained and helped our friends train pointers, retrievers and spaniels for hunting and test competition. As breeders we feel that sound, healthy, birdy, sweet tempered dogs are a cornerstone to our breeding program. To that end our dogs are tested in AKC field tests and all breeding stock has been cleared by OFA and CERF. We have litters occasionally. The pups are raised in our home, socialized and started with basic training as puppies. None of the dogs we keep are sent to be professionally trained. All are trained by Bob. All in all, we have great fun with our dogs. We have made many friends in the field event world. Hope you enjoy our web site Susan and Bob |
